W. Mark Roberts
Vice President, Medical Communications

Mark combines an editor’s eye for detail with the big-picture insights he has gained over 17 years in the field of health economics and outcomes research. Mark leverages his extensive experience as a manager of content-development teams and as a hands-on medical writer and editor to ensure the high quality of our deliverables.
Successfully transitioning from academia to industry in 2003, Mark has built deep experience in developing medical communications in a broad range of therapeutic areas, with a strong focus on orphan indications. He is an expert on effective presentation of research findings, including for such specialized topics as cost-effectiveness analysis, retrospective database analysis, and patient-reported outcomes. Over his long career in the field, he has supported the development of global value dossiers, strategy documents to help companies differentiate their products from the competition, articles for peer-reviewed biomedical journals, pharmacoeconomic model reports, and conference abstracts, posters and slide decks.
From 2006–2009, Mark was the Managing Editor at IC Axon, where he supervised the medical writer team creating content for innovative sales training for clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to this position, Mark was a Senior Research Application Associate at BioMedCom Consultants, where he developed projects for clients in industry and academia. He has also taught courses in biostatistics and experimental methods at McGill University.

Sabrina Smith

Sabrina provides hands-on strategic guidance on Stratenym projects with a focus on highlighting product value. With 15+ years of experience in developing communications for diverse audiences, including payers, physicians, researchers, and pharmaceutical executives, she is an expert at extracting and conveying compelling value messages from clinical data.
Sabrina has more than 15 years of experience in medical communications. Over the span of her career, she has worked with a diverse group of Fortune 500 pharma companies, biotech startups, non-profit organizations, and academia. At Stratenym, she provides strategic guidance on medical communications and market access initiatives, as well as directly developing scientific content.
Sabrina has experience in several therapeutic areas, including oncology, infectious disease and immunology, gastroenterology, cardiology, rheumatology, endocrinology, neurology, and hematology. Her past projects include international disease awareness campaigns, global value dossiers, payer value messages, HTA and reimbursement submissions, conference abstracts and presentations, systematic literature reviews, as well as comparative effectiveness research and targeted research on patient-reported outcomes. With expertise in value-driven and evidence-based communications, her work has led to several HTA agency recommendations for product reimbursement.
Prior to Stratenym, Sabrina held senior roles at two international communications companies where she led teams on several high-profile sales training, disease awareness, and market access initiatives.

Shawn mcdonald

Shawn’s mandate is to support all functions within Stratenym to drive process efficiency and best practices across operations, overseeing our PMO, administrative, and finance functions. He has a client-centric approach, always making partner success the top priority.
Shawn brings 18+ years of progressive leadership experience in operational roles that include management of multi-unit, cross-functional teams in environments that can be described as fast-paced, ambiguous, and challenging. He has direct experience working with traditional brands delivering consumer goods and services at the retail, wholesale, and distribution levels as well as managing digital-first and tech enabled brands operating globally.
Throughout his career Shawn has worked within highly regulated industries that are globally connected and has a deep understanding between executing on delivery while integrating external stakeholder requirements.
Maintaining a steadfast desire to engage and fulfill the needs of stakeholders and clients alike, Shawn takes a client and customer-centric approach when framing internal processes, always making partner success the top priority.
